Driver’s Education

Easing the Arrival Process for Refugees

Driver's Education Overview

Alliance’s Driver’s Education Program provides low-cost instruction, training, and resources to refugees to assist them with obtaining a Texas State Driver’s License, an important milestone on the path to self-sufficiency. Our Driver’s Education instructors, all TEA certified and bilingual, effectively teach participants how to drive through in-classroom instruction and behind-the-wheel training. The benefits of eligible drivers participating in Alliance’s Driver’s Education program are indispensable. Because Houston is a very wide spread city, relying on public transportation can disadvantage individuals. By completing our program and obtaining a driver’s license, individuals have the potential to increase their mobility, which increases their employment opportunities, flexibility in scheduling appointments and/or attending classes.
